Old
Man Emu 2-inch Lift Kit Installation

Transfer case Lowering Kit Installation
This installation is being preformed in garage to show the easiest
way to install a transfer case lowering kit on an '86 to '95 Jeep Wrangler.
Tools Needed:
3/4-inch socket
2-foot breaker bar
Torque wrench with
a 40 to 120 Ft-lbs. capability.
Floor jack
Safety Note: Always block the opposite ends tires,
apply the parking brake, transmission into 1st gear, when working
on suspension components, or under vehicle.
-
With the Jeep on all four wheels, place a floor jack and a six-inch
length of 2X4 in the middle on the transfer case skid plate, and make solid
contact with the jack.
-
Remove the six bolts that connect the skid plate to the frame with a
3/4-inch socket.
-
Loosen the three small Transmission mount nuts, two full turns or until
the skid plate can be moved forward and back.
-
Lower the floor jack VERY SLOWLY, until there is a 1 1/2-inch gap between
the skid plate and frame.
-
Install three spacers per side. Recessed side up. Raise the floor jack
to make solid contact.
-
Install the supplied bolts and beveled washers, tapered end up, and
tighten three or four turns. It is easiest to do the four corners first,
then do the middle two. After all the bolts are started torque them to
90 Ft-lbs.
-
Remove the floor jack.
-
Tighten transmission-mounting nuts loosened in step 3.
There you have it! The drop is complete.
