First Ozark Mountain Camp Jeep in Missouri, July, 2002 Trail Report

Camp Jeep, I did not know what to expect. Wednesday morning we met for training, under a tent at Branson Creek Golf Course. Main rules were not to smoke or use profanity while in uniform. Which was a dark blue shirt with collar and tight sleeves, chalky or green pants..

Thursday morning I had a 7:00 am trail, with a 6:00 am start time. After putting the three Jeeps that showed for our beginner run in other lines, the three Counselors headed to the command tent for "now what". We had the privilege of escorting Daimler-Chrysler Media personnel around anything they wanted to see. These were the people that shot the commercial of the three Jeeps racing a chopper up a cliff in Moab. A lot of fun was had, "looking for the spot" as they would say.

Friday I was assigned the 10:00am intermediate trail. A lot of fun was had with a little confusion on the mass amount of trails and intersections. Any of the thirty participating Jeeps were aloud to try any obstacles they desired. At noon we were back a "base camp" and free for the rest of the day. I stopped by "Tent City" and picked up a few things. Then back to old town Branson, for the rest of the afternoon. Visiting all my own child hood haunts. The old "Uncola" restaurant is now a beauty saloon. The "5 and Dime" is still The "5 and Dime". Lake Tania Como is still icy cold and filled with great tasting Trout. Man I was over loaded with great childhood memoriesJ I didn’t make it back to Tent City for the "hot dog dinner". I had prim rib from one of the families favorite haunts

Saturday I had the noon to 2, or was it 3:00 medium trail. This was a very good run with no one wanting to leave. On my way to Tent City I saw an XJ pulling an XJ on a very big trailer. Tail started to wag the dog, and the driver lost control. I thanked God for the rest of the night, that no one was seriously hurt.

From a one to ten, I give my first Camp Jeep in Missouri, an eight. Sense I wave At every Jeep that has been made, my "wavin arm" was just plain tired.
